I knew in the first grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I was tempted to become a photojournalist and a computer scientist, but instead I applied those passions to my teaching, and have enjoyed my job every minute of every day.
I believe my role as an educator is to foster brilliance in others. My students learn best when they are deeply involved in designing, implementing, creating, and problem solving. In my classroom, students are working intensely and eagerly, and I am coaching them along. When my students are engaged and enthused, I am fulfilled. I currently teach English Language Arts at Jericho High School where I proudly advise the video yearbook club and our award-winning online newspaper the JerEcho which has over one thousand subscribers. I am a mentor and professional development facilitator, and have also served as a teacher leader in a progressive alternative school and as an educational consultant. |
